    As a premier national women's sorority, Sigma Kappa has a proud history, solid values, and a clear vision for our future.  Sigma Kappa’s values are personal growth, friendship, service and loyalty – Bound by a Promise. Our values are the accepted principles of our sisterhood. They are the core of our behavior and how we live our lives.  Living our values is an everyday part of life, visible for all to see.

    Nationally Founded: November 9, 1874, at Colby College in Waterville, Maine.

    Locally Installed: July 5, 1922

    Open Motto: One Heart, One Way.
    Colors: Maroon and Lavender

    Symbols: Heart and Dove
    Flower: Wild Purple Violet
    Philanthropy: Gerontology (study of aging), with a focus on Alzheimer's disease research and programs directed at improving the lives of older citizens; Inherit the Earth; Maine Seacoast Mission. 
    Interesting Fact: Sigma Kappa was the first sorority on UofL's campus.
